Breast cancer

It has become one of the most diagnosed cancers among women, worldwide, accounting for 1 in 4 cancer cases. Breast cancer cells usually form a tumor that can often be seen on an x-ray or felt as a lump. If it spreads outside the breast through blood vessels and lymph vessels, it becomes advanced cancer.

When breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body such as the liver, lungs, bones, or brain, it is said to have metastasized and is referred to as metastatic breast cancer.

Even though breast cancer has become very common, the survival rates for breast cancer are very high when it is detected early and where treatment is available.

WARNING SIGNS TO LOOK OUT FOR:

New lump in the breast or underarm
Thickening or swelling of part of the breast
Irritation or dimpling of breast skin
Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast
Pain in the area of the breast
Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood.
